In the 1970's businesses took advantage of the great location,
beauty and the city of Colorado Springs desire to attract quality businesses to

Lockheed Martin and Honeywell have relocated or expanded their
operations in Colorado Springs. Large companies
benefit because of the lower cost of living, the lower cost of

Garden of the Gods. The environment is rich in beauty and

The night life is rich and entertaining for those who enjoy dining,
music and dance. Colorado Springs Philharmonic performs in Manitou
Springs and the downtown area has fine restaurants like McKenzies Chop
House and a variety of clubs. Rum Bay hosts 3 dance floors and 6
bands on any given night. Tequilla's stays open until 4:00am for the
diehard dance enthusiast.
Colorado Springs enjoys what the businesses bring to the area, but there is
also big business with the presence of the military. Fort Carson is
home to roughly 19,000 military, civilian and contractors. Peterson AFB
employees roughly 11,000 and the Air Force Academy 10,000. Active duty
personnel contributing over $2 billion to the local economy. In addition,
there are more than 28,000 retirees living in Colorado Springs collecting $94
million in retirement benefits.
