Working in Colorado Springs...

June 27, 2006 -Thank you for considering Colorado Springs as a place to grow your company.  Colorado Springs is an incredible place to live and work.  The quality of life and the emphasis on healthy living is seen in the community and in the work attitude.  

Colorado Springs is a large spread out city that covers 185.7 square miles.  Pikes Peak Association of REALTORS® has broken the city in to sub areas.  The following sub areas are Northgate, Black Forest, Briargate, North West, North East, West, East, Powers, Falcon, Central, Manitou Springs, Old Colorado City, South East, South West and Fountain.

Colorado Springs enjoys what the businesses bring to the area, but there is also big business with the presence of the military.  Fort Carson is home to roughly 19,000 military, civilian and contractors.  Peterson AFB employees roughly 11,000 and the Air Force Academy 10,000.  Active duty personnel contributing over $2 billion to the local economy.  In addition, there are more than 28,000 retirees living in Colorado Springs collecting $94 million in retirement benefits.

The Colorado economy added an estimated 51,500 net new jobs during the most recent 12 month period, a growth rate of 2.4%. Such a growth pace ranks as the strongest of the past five years.

The state's service providing sector added 39,100 new jobs during the past year, a rise of 2.1%.  Colorado's trade, transportation and utilities sector added 11,700 new jobs, a growth rate of 2.9%.

Colorado's jobless rate averaged 5% in 2005, during the 1990's it averaged 4.4%.

 

Getting to Colorado Springs...

Colorado Springs Airport, known as COS, is owned and operated by the City of Colorado Springs.  Major airlines like Delta, America West, American and United fly daily in and out of Colorado Springs.  The average airfare roundtrip to LAX is $350.  Rental cars and cab service are at the airport.  The airport is located about 20 minutes east of downtown.  Easy and convenient in and out accessibility.  There is a private aircraft airstrip a few miles away to serve private aircraft.

Colorado Springs is roughly an 1.5 hour drive from Denver.  Denver has an international airport as well.
