Not much of a surprise and quite evident for anyone who has resided 5 or more years here in the Springs. Major corporations are recognizing the benefits of setting up business in Colorado Springs both for themselves and their employees. Forbes magazine named the Colorado Springs Airport #5 in "Best Small Airport in the Midwest". For under $300 roundtrip, executives can travel to most major cities in the US. It takes that executive less than an hour on average to park, check-in and walk to the gate. Time saved is money saved in the eyes of the executive.

"The year 2004 was a very successful year for Colorado Springs. We had positive job growth, adding 2,038 new jobs from primary employers", says John Cassiani,

Marketing VP of The Greater Colorado Springs Economic Development Corporation. Primary employers are employers that generate income outside of Colorado Springs. "The average employee earned $52,400, and $453 million dollars went into our local economy due to these employers", said Cassiani.

Colorado Springs is also known as home to the healthiest Americans in the US. With the number of parks and the great effort that the city of Colorado Springs puts into maintaining them, it is no wonder. Roads are well maintained and citizens have access to a pothole hotline to report problem areas. The airport is convenient and easy to get in and out of. Smaller airport means shorter lines at the ticket counters and security.

Colorado Springs transportation department, RTA, was just awarded 600 million dollars to spend on widening our interstate over the next 6 years. Taking a 2 lane highway to 3 lanes will significantly impact the congestion problems.

What is amazing, is that you can still buy a single family residence for $100,000.
